[365] "Venerable sir, I have heard this in the presence of the Blessed One, received it in his presence: 'When, Ānanda, the Bodhisatta (bodhisatto) has descended into his mother's womb, four young gods (devaputtā) approach him to keep guard over the four quarters, so that no human, or non-human, or anyone at all may harm the Bodhisatta or the Bodhisatta's mother.' This too, venerable sir, … this too, venerable sir, I remember as a wonderful and marvelous quality (acchariya-abbhūtadhamma) of the Blessed One."
