[380] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Venerable Bakkula was dwelling at Rājagaha, in the Bamboo Grove, the squirrels' feeding ground. Then the naked ascetic (acela) Kassapa, a companion of the Venerable Bakkula in his former lay life, approached the Venerable Bakkula; having approached, he exchanged greetings with the Venerable Bakkula, and when the courteous and memorable talk was concluded, he sat down to one side. Seated to one side, the naked ascetic Kassapa said this to the Venerable Bakkula: "Friend Bakkula, how long is it since you went forth?"
"It has been eighty years, friend, since I went forth."
"But in these eighty years, friend Bakkula, how many times have you engaged in sexual intercourse (methuna dhamma)?"
