[428] When this was said, the Venerable Abhiya Kaccāna said to the Venerable Anuruddha: "It is good, venerable Anuruddha. But I have something further to ask about this: those deities who are radiant — are they all of limited radiance (parittābhā), or are there some deities there of measureless radiance (appamāṇābhā)?"
"In that respect (tadaṅgena), friend Kaccāna, some deities there are of limited radiance, while some deities there are of measureless radiance."
"What, venerable Anuruddha, is the cause, what is the condition, whereby among those deities who have arisen in one and the same order of gods, some deities there are of limited radiance, while some deities there are of measureless radiance?"
