[479] Bhikkhus, there are animals (tiracchānagatā pāṇā) that are born in water, age in water, and die in water. And which, bhikkhus, are the animals that are born in water, age in water, and die in water? Fish, turtles, crocodiles, and whatever other animals there may be that are born in water, age in water, and die in water. That very fool, bhikkhus, who formerly here was a devourer of tastes (rasāda) and did evil deeds here, with the breakup of the body, after death, is reborn in the company of those beings who are born in water, age in water, and die in water.
