[565] Thus have I heard. At one time the Blessed One was dwelling at Sāvatthī, in Jeta's Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika's monastery. Now on that occasion the Venerable Lomasakaṅgiya was dwelling among the Sakyans, at Kapilavatthu, in the Nigrodha Monastery. Then, when the night was far advanced, the young deva (devaputta) Candana, of surpassing beauty, illuminating the entire Nigrodha Monastery, approached the Venerable Lomasakaṅgiya; having approached, he stood to one side.
