[590] Here, student, some woman or man is not a giver of food, drink, clothing, vehicles, garlands, scents, and unguents, of bedding, dwelling, and lamps to an ascetic or a brahmin. Because of that action, thus completed, thus undertaken, with the breakup of the body, after death, he arises in a state of deprivation, a bad destination, a place of ruin, hell. If, with the breakup of the body, after death, he does not arise in a state of deprivation, a bad destination, a place of ruin, hell, and if he comes to the human state, then wherever he is afterwards reborn, he is one of little wealth. This, student, is the course of practice conducing to little wealth, namely, not being a giver of food, drink, clothing, vehicles, garlands, scents, and unguents, of bedding, dwelling, and lamps to an ascetic or a brahmin.
