[591] But here, student, some woman or man is a giver to an ascetic or a brahmin of food, drink, clothing, vehicles, garlands, fragrances, and unguents, bedding, dwellings, and lamps. Because of that deed (kamma), thus accomplished, thus undertaken, with the breaking up of the body, after death, he reappears in a good destination, a heavenly world. But if, with the breaking up of the body, after death, he does not reappear in a good destination, a heavenly world, and if instead he comes to the human state, then wherever he is subsequently reborn he is of great wealth. This, student, is the way of practice that leads to great wealth, namely, being a giver to an ascetic or a brahmin of food, drink, clothing, vehicles, garlands, fragrances, and unguents, bedding, dwellings, and lamps.
