[593] Here again, student, some woman or man is not obstinate and not arrogant: he pays homage to one who should be paid homage, rises up for one for whom one should rise up, gives a seat to one worthy of a seat, gives way to one worthy of the way, honors one who should be honored, respects one who should be respected, esteems one who should be esteemed, and venerates one who should be venerated. Because of that deed, thus completed and thus undertaken, with the breakup of the body, after death, he reappears in a good destination, a heavenly world. But if, with the breakup of the body, after death, he does not reappear in a good destination, a heavenly world, then, if he comes to the human state, wherever he is afterwards reborn, he is one born in a high family. This, student, is the practice leading to birth in a high family, namely: being not obstinate and not arrogant, one pays homage to one who should be paid homage, rises up for one for whom one should rise up, gives a seat to one worthy of a seat, gives way to one worthy of the way, honors one who should be honored, respects one who should be respected, esteems one who should be esteemed, and venerates one who should be venerated.
