[621] "'The six classes of consciousness (viññāṇakāyā) should be understood' — so indeed was this said. And with reference to what was this said? Eye-consciousness, ear-consciousness, nose-consciousness, tongue-consciousness, body-consciousness, and mind-consciousness. 'The six classes of consciousness should be understood' — when this was said, it was with reference to this that it was said."
