[676] "There is, friend, the ascetic (samaṇa) Gotama, a son of the Sakyans, gone forth from a Sakyan family. Now about that worthy Gotama such a fair report of fame has spread abroad: 'Thus indeed is that Blessed One: accomplished (arahaṃ), a Perfectly Enlightened One (sammāsambuddha), endowed with true knowledge and conduct (vijjācaraṇasampanna), a Well-Gone One (sugata), knower of the world, unsurpassed trainer of persons to be tamed, teacher of gods and humans, awakened (buddha), blessed (bhagavā).' It is in the name of that Blessed One that I have gone forth; that Blessed One is my teacher; it is the Dhamma of that Blessed One that I approve of."
"But, bhikkhu, where does that Blessed One, accomplished, a Perfectly Enlightened One, dwell at present?"
"There is, friend, in the northern lands a city named Sāvatthī; there that Blessed One, accomplished, a Perfectly Enlightened One, dwells at present."
"But, bhikkhu, have you ever seen that Blessed One? And having seen him, would you recognize him?"
"No indeed, friend, I have never seen that Blessed One; and having seen him, I would not recognize him."
