[813] "'The six external sense bases (āyatana) should be understood' — thus indeed this was said. And in dependence on what was this said? The sense base of forms, the sense base of sounds, the sense base of odours, the sense base of tastes, the sense base of tangibles, the sense base of mental phenomena. 'The six external sense bases should be understood' — thus, that which was said, it was in dependence on this that it was said. This is the second set of six.
