Suttapiṭaka · Majjhimanikāya · Vol. 14 · Section 847

[847] Furthermore, Sāriputta, a bhikkhu should reflect thus: 'Have I developed the five powers (bala)?' If, Sāriputta, a bhikkhu, reviewing, knows thus: 'I have not developed the five powers,' then, Sāriputta, that bhikkhu should strive for the development of the five powers. But if, Sāriputta, a bhikkhu, reviewing, knows thus: 'I have developed the five powers,' then, Sāriputta, that bhikkhu should dwell with that very rapture (pīti) and gladness, training day and night in wholesome dhammas.
