[109] Then those deities (devatā), having alighted upon the earth, prostrated themselves with their heads at the feet of the Blessed One and said this to the Blessed One: "A transgression overcame us, venerable sir — so foolish, so muddled, so unskillful were we — in that we imagined that the Blessed One was one who could be assailed. Venerable sir, may the Blessed One accept our transgression as a transgression, for the sake of restraint in the future."
Then the Blessed One displayed a smile.
