[157] "So it was then, just as you say, Bhaggava:
formerly you were the potter Ghaṭīkāra in Vebhaḷiṅga;¹
you were a supporter of your mother and father, a lay follower of Kassapa;
abstaining from sexual intercourse, you lived the holy life, free from the carnal;
you were my fellow villager; in days of old you were my friend."
Such was this meeting of the friends of old,
both of them inwardly developed, bearers of their final bodies.
