[257] Standing to one side, the young deva (devaputta) Dīghalaṭṭhi spoke this verse in the presence of the Blessed One: "A bhikkhu should be a meditator (jhāyī), one whose mind (citta) is liberated, and let him indeed aspire to the heart's attainment (hadayassānupattiṁ); having known the arising and passing away of the world, of good mind, independent — with that as his reward (ānisaṁsa)."
