[293] Thus have I heard. On one occasion a number of bhikkhus were dwelling among the Kosalans, in a forest hut on a slope of the Himavant — restless, haughty, fickle, harsh-tongued, rambling in their speech, muddled in mindfulness (muṭṭhassatino), without clear comprehension (asampajānā), unconcentrated (asamāhitā), with straying minds (vibbhantacittā), their faculties left unrestrained (pākatindriyā).
