[372] Then King Ajātasattu of Magadha, son of the Videhan lady (Vedehiputta), mobilized a fourfold army and marched toward Kāsi against King Pasenadi of Kosala.
King Pasenadi of Kosala heard: "It is said that King Ajātasattu of Magadha, son of the Videhan lady, has mobilized a fourfold army and has marched toward Kāsi against me."
Then King Pasenadi of Kosala mobilized a fourfold army and marched out toward Kāsi to counter King Ajātasattu of Magadha, son of the Videhan lady.
Then King Ajātasattu of Magadha, son of the Videhan lady, and King Pasenadi of Kosala joined battle. And in that battle King Pasenadi of Kosala defeated King Ajātasattu of Magadha, son of the Videhan lady, and captured him alive.
