Seated to one side, King Pasenadi of Kosala said this to the Blessed One: "Is there, venerable sir, one quality (dhamma) that secures and maintains both benefits — the benefit pertaining to the present life (diṭṭhadhammika attha) and the benefit pertaining to the life to come (samparāyika)?"
"There is, great king, one quality that secures and maintains both benefits — the benefit pertaining to the present life and the benefit pertaining to the life to come."
