[461] At Sāvatthī, in the park. …
Now on that occasion the Blessed One was instructing, urging, rousing, and gladdening the bhikkhus with a Dhamma talk concerning the five aggregates subject to clinging (upādānakkhandhā). And those bhikkhus were listening to the Dhamma with eager ears, treating it as a matter of vital concern, attending to it, directing their whole mind (citta) to it.
Then it occurred to Māra the Evil One: "This ascetic Gotama is instructing, urging, rousing, and gladdening the bhikkhus with a Dhamma talk concerning the five aggregates subject to clinging, and those bhikkhus are listening to the Dhamma with eager ears, treating it as a matter of vital concern, attending to it, directing their whole mind to it. Suppose I were to approach the ascetic Gotama in order to blind their vision (vicakkhukamma)."
Now on that occasion many bowls had been set out in the open air.
