[509] Then the daughters of Māra — Taṇhā, Aratī, and Rāgā — having withdrawn to one side, deliberated together thus: "Diverse indeed are the desires of men. Suppose each of us were to manifest a hundred forms — a hundred each in the guise of women who have never given birth."
Then the daughters of Māra — Taṇhā, Aratī, and Rāgā — having each manifested a hundred forms in the guise of women who had never given birth, approached the Blessed One; and having approached, they said this to the Blessed One: "Ascetic, we serve at your feet."
But even to that the Blessed One paid no attention, since he was liberated in the unsurpassed extinction of acquisitions (upadhi).
