[577] Then it occurred to the Venerable Mahākappina: "Where now is the Blessed One dwelling at present?" Then the Venerable Mahākappina saw the Blessed One with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu) … attained to the fire element (tejodhātu); and having seen him, just as a strong man … even so he vanished from Jetavana and appeared in that Brahmā world. Then the Venerable Mahākappina, taking his position in the western quarter, sat cross-legged in the air above that Brahmā — lower than the Blessed One — having attained the fire element.
