[663] "Then to whom, Master Gotama, shall I give this remainder of the oblation (habyasesa)?" "Brahmin, in this world with its devas, its Māra, and its Brahmā, in this generation with its ascetics and brahmins, its devas and humans, I do not see anyone for whom this remainder of the oblation, once eaten, would come to proper digestion, other than the Tathāgata or a disciple of the Tathāgata. Therefore, brahmin, discard that remainder of the oblation where there is no green vegetation, or sink it in water that is without living beings."
