[686] Then the brahmin Devahita approached the Blessed One; having approached, he exchanged greetings with the Blessed One, and when the courteous and amiable talk was concluded, he sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, the brahmin Devahita addressed the Blessed One in a verse: "Where should one give a gift (deyyadhamma)? Where does what is given bear great fruit? How indeed, for one making offering— where does the offering (dakkhiṇā) succeed?"
