[727] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Venerable Vaṅgīsa was dwelling at Āḷavī, at the Aggāḷava Shrine (cetiya), together with his preceptor (upajjhāya), the Venerable Nigrodhakappa. Now on that occasion the Venerable Vaṅgīsa was newly ordained, not long gone forth, and had been left behind as keeper of the dwelling (vihārapāla).
