[96] Then another deity (devatā) uttered this inspired utterance (udāna) in the presence of the Blessed One: "Good indeed, dear sir, is giving (dāna); moreover, even when one has but little, giving is good. Some bestow out of the little they have; some, though they have much, do not give. An offering (dakkhiṇā) given out of little is reckoned as equal to a thousand."
