[97] Then another deity (devatā) uttered this inspired utterance (udāna) in the presence of the Blessed One: 　　"Good indeed, dear sir (mārisa), is giving (dāna)! 　　Even when there is but little, giving is good; 　　moreover, giving out of faith (saddhā) too is good. 　　Giving and battle, they say, are alike: 　　even a few good ones conquer the many. 　　If one having faith gives even a little, 　　thereby he is happy in the world beyond."
