[134] "But, bhikkhu, with the remainderless fading away and cessation of ignorance (avijjā), whatever contortions, whatever manoeuvrings, whatever vacillations there may be — 'What is birth (jāti), and whose, then, is this birth?' or 'Birth is one thing, and this birth belongs to another,' or 'The soul (jīva) and the body are the same,' or 'The soul is one thing, the body another' — all these are abandoned in him, cut off at the root, made like a palm stump, obliterated, of a nature not to arise again in the future."
