[180] Bhikkhus, for an instructed noble disciple (sutavā ariyasāvaka) it does not occur thus: "When what does not exist, what does not come to be? With the cessation of what, does what cease? When what does not exist does name-and-form (nāmarūpa) not come to be? When what does not exist do the six sense bases (saḷāyatana) not come to be? When what does not exist does contact (phassa) not come to be? When what does not exist does feeling (vedanā) not come to be? When what does not exist does craving (taṇhā) not come to be? When what does not exist does clinging (upādāna) not come to be? When what does not exist does existence (bhava) not come to be? When what does not exist does birth (jāti) not come to be? When what does not exist do aging and death (jarāmaraṇa) not come to be?"
