[198] Bhikkhus, for one who dwells contemplating the danger (ādīnava) in things that can be clung to (upādāniyā dhammā), craving (taṇhā) ceases. With the cessation of craving, clinging (upādāna) ceases; with the cessation of clinging, existence (bhava) ceases; with the cessation of existence, birth ceases; with the cessation of birth, aging and death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair cease. Thus is the cessation of this whole mass of suffering (dukkha).
