[216] Dwelling at Sāvatthī … There the Blessed One … "Bhikkhus, when one dwells contemplating gratification (assāda) in things subject to the fetters (saññojaniyā dhammā), there is the descent (avakkanti) of name-and-form (nāmarūpa). With name-and-form as condition, the six sense bases (saḷāyatana) [come to be] … Such is the origin of this whole mass of suffering (dukkha)."
