[371] Bhikkhus, just as milk flows together and unites with milk, oil flows together and unites with oil, ghee flows together and unites with ghee, honey flows together and unites with honey, and molasses flows together and unites with molasses—even so, bhikkhus, it is by way of elements (dhātu) that beings flow together and unite: those of good disposition (kalyāṇādhimuttikā) flow together and unite with those of good disposition. In the past period of time too … in the future period of time too … in the present period of time too, it is by way of elements that beings flow together and unite: those of good disposition flow together and unite with those of good disposition.
