[406] Dwelling at Sāvatthī … There the Blessed One … "Bhikkhus, I set out seeking the gratification (assāda) in the earth element (paṭhavīdhātu); whatever gratification there is in the earth element, that I found; however far the gratification in the earth element extends, that has been well seen by me with wisdom (paññā). Bhikkhus, I set out seeking the danger (ādīnava) in the earth element; whatever danger there is in the earth element, that I found; however far the danger in the earth element extends, that has been well seen by me with wisdom. Bhikkhus, I set out seeking the escape (nissaraṇa) from the earth element; whatever escape there is from the earth element, that I found; however far the escape from the earth element extends, that has been well seen by me with wisdom.
