[20] And how, householder, does one entertain expectations (purakkharāno)? Here, householder, someone thinks thus: 'May I be of such form (rūpa) in the future time; may I be of such feeling (vedanā) in the future time; may I be of such perception (saññā) in the future time; may I be of such volitional formations (saṅkhārā) in the future time; may I be of such consciousness (viññāṇa) in the future time.' Thus, householder, does one entertain expectations.
