[333] When this was said, the Venerable Sāriputta said to the Venerable Mahākoṭṭhita: "'True knowledge (vijjā), true knowledge,' friend Koṭṭhita, it is said. What now, friend, is true knowledge, and in what way has one arrived at true knowledge?"
"Here, friend, an instructed noble disciple (ariyasāvaka) understands form (rūpa), understands the origin of form, understands the cessation of form, understands the way of practice leading to the cessation of form; he understands feeling (vedanā) … perception (saññā) … volitional formations (saṅkhārā) … he understands consciousness (viññāṇa), understands the origin of consciousness, understands the cessation of consciousness, understands the way of practice leading to the cessation of consciousness. This, friend, is called true knowledge, and in this way one has arrived at true knowledge."
The Chapter on Ignorance (Avijjāvagga) is concluded.
