[301] Sāvatthī. Sitting to one side, that bhikkhu said to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, it is said, 'true knowledge (vijjā), true knowledge.' What now, venerable sir, is true knowledge, and in what way is one arrived at true knowledge?"
"Here, bhikkhu, an instructed noble disciple (ariyasāvaka) understands form, the origin of form … understands the way of practice leading to the cessation of form; he understands feeling (vedanā) … perception … volitional formations … he understands the way of practice leading to the cessation of consciousness. This, bhikkhu, is called true knowledge, and it is in this way that one is arrived at true knowledge."
