[342] At Sāvatthī. There indeed… Bhikkhus, for a clansman gone forth out of faith, this is in accordance with the Dhamma (anudhamma): that he should dwell abounding in disenchantment (nibbidā) toward form; toward feeling (vedanā) … toward perception … toward volitional formations … that he should dwell abounding in disenchantment toward consciousness. One who, dwelling abounding in disenchantment toward form, toward feeling … toward perception … toward volitional formations … dwelling abounding in disenchantment toward consciousness, fully understands form; he fully understands feeling … perception … volitional formations … consciousness. Fully understanding form, feeling … perception … volitional formations … fully understanding consciousness, he is freed from form, freed from feeling, freed from perception, freed from volitional formations, freed from consciousness; he is freed from birth, aging, death, from sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair; he is freed from suffering (dukkha), I say.
