[374] Sāvatthī. There … Then the Blessed One said this to the Venerable Rādha, who was seated to one side: "Rādha, there are these five aggregates subject to clinging (upādānakkhandhā). Which five? That is: the aggregate subject to clinging that is form (rūpa) … the aggregate subject to clinging that is consciousness (viññāṇa). When, Rādha, a bhikkhu, having understood as it really is (yathābhūta) the origin (samudaya), the passing away, the gratification, the danger, and the escape in regard to these five aggregates subject to clinging, is liberated through non-clinging — this, Rādha, is called a bhikkhu who is an arahant, one whose taints (āsava) are destroyed, who has lived the life, done what had to be done, laid down the burden, reached his own true goal, utterly destroyed the fetters of existence, and is liberated through final knowledge (aññā)."
