[62] At Sāvatthī. There indeed…
"Bhikkhus, if there were no gratification (assāda) in form, beings would not become enamoured with form. But because there is gratification in form, therefore beings become enamoured with form. Bhikkhus, if there were no danger (ādīnava) in form, beings would not become disenchanted with form. But because there is danger in form, therefore beings become disenchanted with form. Bhikkhus, if there were no escape (nissaraṇa) from form, beings would not escape from form. But because there is an escape from form, therefore beings escape from form.
"Bhikkhus, if there were no gratification in feeling (vedanā)… Bhikkhus, if … in perception…
"Bhikkhus, if there were no gratification in volitional formations, beings would not become enamoured with volitional formations. But because there is gratification in volitional formations, therefore beings become enamoured with volitional formations. Bhikkhus, if there were no danger in volitional formations, beings would not become disenchanted with volitional formations. But because there is danger in volitional formations, therefore beings become disenchanted with volitional formations. Bhikkhus, if there were no escape from volitional formations, beings would not escape from volitional formations. But because there is an escape from volitional formations, therefore beings escape from volitional formations.
"Bhikkhus, if there were no gratification in consciousness, beings would not become enamoured with consciousness. But because there is gratification in consciousness, therefore beings become enamoured with consciousness. Bhikkhus, if there were no danger in consciousness, beings would not become disenchanted with consciousness. But because there is danger in consciousness, therefore beings become disenchanted with consciousness. Bhikkhus, if there were no escape from consciousness, beings would not escape from consciousness. But because there is an escape from consciousness, therefore beings escape from consciousness."
