[114] When this was said, a certain bhikkhu said to the Blessed One: "Here, venerable sir, I am lost (anassāsaṃ); for I do not understand as it really is (yathābhūta) the origin and the passing away, the gratification (assāda), the danger (ādīnava), and the escape (nissaraṇa) in regard to the six bases of contact (phassāyatana)."
"What do you think, bhikkhu? Do you regard the eye thus: 'This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self'?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Good, bhikkhu. And here, bhikkhu, the eye will thus be well seen by you with right wisdom as it really is: 'This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self.' Thus this first base of contact will be abandoned by you, for no renewed existence in the future. … Do you regard the tongue thus: 'This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self'?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Good, bhikkhu. And there, bhikkhu, the tongue will thus be well seen by you with right wisdom as it really is: 'This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self.' Thus this fourth base of contact will be abandoned by you, for no renewed existence in the future. … Do you regard the mind (mano) thus: 'This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self'?"

"Good, Puṇṇa. Having been instructed by me with this brief instruction, in which country will you dwell?"
"There is, venerable sir, a country named Sunāparanta; there I shall dwell."
