[145] "Bhikkhus, I will teach you restraint (saṃvara) and non-restraint (asaṃvara). Listen to it.
"And how, bhikkhus, is there non-restraint? There are, bhikkhus, forms cognizable by the eye that are wished for, desirable, agreeable, pleasing, connected with sensuality, enticing. If a bhikkhu delights in them, welcomes them, and remains holding to them, this should be understood by that bhikkhu: 'I am declining from wholesome states (kusalā dhammā); for this has been called decline by the Blessed One.' … There are, bhikkhus, tastes cognizable by the tongue … There are, bhikkhus, dhammas cognizable by the mind that are wished for, desirable, agreeable, pleasing, connected with sensuality, enticing. If a bhikkhu delights in them, welcomes them, and remains holding to them, this should be understood by that bhikkhu: 'I am declining from wholesome states; for this has been called decline by the Blessed One.' It is in this way, bhikkhus, that there is non-restraint."
