[146] "And how, bhikkhus, is there restraint (saṃvara)? There are, bhikkhus, forms cognizable by the eye that are wished for, lovely, agreeable, pleasing, connected with sensuality, enticing to lust. If a bhikkhu does not delight in them, does not welcome them, does not remain clinging to them, then this should be understood by that bhikkhu: 'I am not declining from wholesome states (kusalā dhammā); for this has been declared by the Blessed One to be non-decline.' … There are, bhikkhus, tastes cognizable by the tongue … There are, bhikkhus, dhammas cognizable by the mind that are wished for, lovely, agreeable, pleasing, connected with sensuality, enticing to lust. If a bhikkhu does not delight in them, does not welcome them, does not remain clinging to them, then this should be understood by that bhikkhu: 'I am not declining from wholesome states; for this has been declared by the Blessed One to be non-decline.' It is in this way, bhikkhus, that there is restraint."
