[180] On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Rājagaha, on Mount Gijjhakūṭa. Then Pañcasikha, son of the gandhabbas (gandhabbaputta), approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he stood to one side. Standing to one side, Pañcasikha, son of the gandhabbas, said this to the Blessed One: "What, venerable sir, is the cause, what is the condition, why some beings here do not attain final Nibbāna (parinibbāyanti) in this very life? And what, venerable sir, is the cause, what is the condition, why some beings here do attain final Nibbāna in this very life?"
