[209] "It is wonderful, Master Kaccāna! It is marvellous, Master Kaccāna! — how one who really is guarded in the doors has been declared by Master Kaccāna to be 'guarded in the doors.' Excellent, Master Kaccāna! Excellent, Master Kaccāna! Just as, Master Kaccāna, one might set upright what has been overturned, or uncover what has been concealed, or point out the way to one who has gone astray, or hold up an oil lamp in the darkness so that those with eyes might see forms — even so has the Dhamma been made clear in many ways by Master Kaccāna. I, Master Kaccāna, go to that Blessed One for refuge, and to the Dhamma, and to the Saṅgha of bhikkhus. Let Master Kaccāna remember me as a lay follower who has gone for refuge for life from this day forward. And just as Master Kaccāna visits the families of lay followers in Makkarakaṭa, even so let him visit the Lohicca family. Whatever brahmin boys or brahmin girls there will pay homage to Master Kaccāna, will rise up to receive him, will bring him a seat or give him water — that will be for their welfare and happiness for a long time."
