[443] Bhikkhus, there are these three feelings (vedanā). What three? Pleasant feeling, painful feeling, and neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling. Bhikkhus, whatever ascetics or brahmins do not understand as it really is (yathābhūta) the origin and the passing away, the gratification, the danger, and the escape in regard to these three feelings … understand … having realized it for themselves with direct knowledge, they dwell having entered upon it. The eighth.
