[570] "It is good, venerable sir," said Citta the householder; and having delighted in and rejoiced at the words of the venerable Kāmabhū, he asked the venerable Kāmabhū a further question: "But, venerable sir, how many dhammas are of great help to the attainment of the cessation of perception and feeling (saññāvedayitanirodha-samāpatti)?"
"Certainly, householder, you are asking what should have been asked first; nevertheless I shall answer you. Two dhammas, householder, are of great help to the attainment of the cessation of perception and feeling: serenity (samatha) and insight (vipassanā)."
