[699] "And what, bhikkhus, is the path leading to the unconditioned (asaṅkhata)? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu generates desire (chanda) for the arising of unarisen wholesome states; he strives, arouses energy (vīriya), applies his mind (citta), and exerts himself. This, bhikkhus, is called the path leading to the unconditioned."
