[775] But, friend, for one who knows and sees form (rūpa) as it really is (yathābhūta), who knows and sees the origin of form as it really is, who knows and sees the cessation of form as it really is, who knows and sees the way of practice leading to the cessation of form as it really is, the view "the Tathāgata exists after death" does not occur … the view "the Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death" does not occur. For one who knows and sees feeling (vedanā) … perception (saññā) … volitional formations (saṅkhārā) … consciousness (viññāṇa) as it really is, who knows and sees the origin of consciousness as it really is, who knows and sees the cessation of consciousness as it really is, who knows and sees the way of practice leading to the cessation of consciousness as it really is, the view "the Tathāgata exists after death" does not occur; the view "the Tathāgata does not exist after death" does not occur; the view "the Tathāgata both exists and does not exist after death" does not occur; the view "the Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death" does not occur. This, friend, is the cause, this is the reason, why this has not been declared by the Blessed One.
