[786] "But, friend, might there be also another method of exposition (pariyāya) by which this was not declared by the Blessed One?" "There might, friend. For one who delights in craving (taṇhā), friend, who is delighted with craving, who rejoices in craving, not knowing, not seeing the cessation of craving as it really is, there occurs [the view]: 'The Tathāgata exists after death' … there occurs [the view]: 'The Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death.'"
