[1035] Furthermore, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu who is a trainee (sekha) understands the five faculties (indriya): the faculty of faith (saddhindriya), the faculty of energy (vīriyindriya), the faculty of mindfulness (satindriya), the faculty of concentration (samādhindriya), and the faculty of wisdom (paññindriya). That which is their destination, their culmination, their fruit, their final goal — he does not yet dwell having contacted it with the body, but having penetrated it with wisdom, he sees it. This too, bhikkhus, is a method (pariyāya), relying on which a bhikkhu who is a trainee, standing on the plane of a trainee, understands: "I am a trainee."
