[1098] "Bhikkhus, for the direct knowledge (abhiññā), for the full understanding (pariññā), for the utter destruction, and for the abandoning of these five higher fetters (uddhambhāgiyāni saññojanāni), the four right strivings (sammappadhāna) are to be developed. What four? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu, … of unarisen … generates desire (chanda), endeavours, arouses energy, applies his mind (citta), and strives for the persistence, non-confusion, increase, expansion, development, and fulfillment of arisen wholesome dhammas. For the direct knowledge, for the full understanding, for the utter destruction, and for the abandoning of these five higher fetters, bhikkhus, these four right strivings are to be developed."
